Trialed on: 1 Oil fired Ideal Harrier GT boiler

Kings College Taunton is a private boarding school with approx. 420 students aged 13-18, including about 302 boarders. Kings College is one of over 20 public schools within the Woodard charitable Trust.

A trial was undertaken on an oil fired Ideal Harrier GT boiler in the King Alfred boiler room. An Enersol/Savastat load compensation control with hours run meter was applied to the heating boiler, and burner activity was recorded daily with the Load Compensation Unit(formerly Savastat) ON and OFF line on alternate days. All readings were taken by Kings College maintenance staff.

Result from the trial at the King Alfred boiler house at King's College.

Kings College spends £112,000 on oil and gas for heating. The trial showed savings of 22.45%. Based on a more conservative saving of 15%, the cost of fitting Savastat to all 32 boilers in the school would be recovered in well under 12 months.

Kings College decided to purchase the units outright. However Enersol have recently introduced the ENABLE scheme whereby the equipment and installation can be financed from pre-determined savings
